Seeing Eva in New Dimensions

on Wed, 04/13/2016 - 14:45

by Kiel Majewski, Executive Director

I recently spent 10 days in Los Angeles, which is one of my favorite cities in the U.S. But I wasn’t hanging out at Santa Monica Pier or going to Chavez Ravine for a Dodger game. Most of my time was spent in a little building in Playa Vista, near the airport. Inside this nondescript building, a dozen people or so were working on a project they hope will be the future of Holocaust education.

The most important structure in that building is a geodesic dome covered in lights and cameras.

The Holocaust and Public Memory in Poland

on Wed, 07/22/2015 - 15:53

This past June, CANDLES and its founder, Eva Kor, led 99 people from across the United States on an educational journey to Auschwitz. Indiana State University history professor Isaac Land was one of those participants, and he offered mini-lectures to provide other tour members with historical context on the sites they were visiting. Here is a link to one of his talks, titled, "The Holocaust and Public Memory in Poland."

Happy 80th Birthday, Eva!

This past Saturday, 200 people gathered at O'Shaughnessy Hall at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College to reflect on the powerful message of Carl Wilkens, to dine with friends new and old, and to celebrate Eva Kor's 80th birthday.

"Eva Chats" Coming Soon!

on Thu, 11/21/2013 - 15:48

Eva Kor gets many, many emails and requests for interviews. But there are only 24 hours in a day (and she works for about 20 of them), so we are starting an initiative called "Eva Chats," to debut soon!

You can "tweet" your questions to Eva and she will answer them live on the free CANDLES Ustream channel! So stay tuned to hear when the first "Eva Chats" session will be.

Kudos to our Indiana State University student worker Brett Taylor for the idea!
